About International Day of Sign Languages

International Day of Sign Languages is observed annually to raise awareness of the importance of sign language in the full realization of the human rights of people who are deaf. This day supports and protects the linguistic identity and cultural diversity of all deaf people and other sign language users. It is an international observance recognized by the United Nations and advocates in the United States.
