About Gedaliah Fast
The Fast of Gedaliah is a minor Jewish fast day commemorating the assassination of Gedaliah, the governor of Judea, following the destruction of the First Temple. Observed by Jews in Israel and around the world, this day involves abstaining from food and drink from dawn until nightfall. It serves as a solemn period of reflection on the tragic loss of Jewish leadership and the subsequent exile.
