About Ataturk Commemoration Day
Ataturk Commemoration Day is a solemn national observance marking the passing of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder and first President of the Republic of Turkey. At 9:05 a.m., the exact time of his death, a moment of silence is observed nationwide, often accompanied by the sounding of sirens. It is a day of national reflection where citizens pay their respects at his mausoleum, Anıtkabir, and local monuments.
