About Eid al-Adha
Eid al-Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice, is one of the two most important Islamic holidays celebrated by Muslims in Algeria. It commemorates the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God. The observance typically involves communal prayers and the ritual sacrifice of livestock, with meat shared among family, friends, and the less fortunate.
How it's celebrated
- Special Eid prayers in the morning
- Giving to charity (zakat / sadaqah)
- Visiting family and sharing festive meals
- Gifts and eidi for children
